Unit 1 Test Friday, September 15th - Properties of Matter and Water
Begin Unit 2 Monday, September 18th - Unit 2 - Mixtures
In this unit, the student is expected to demonstrate that some mixtures maintain physical properties of their ingredients such as iron filings and sand or sand and water; and identify changes that can occur in the physical properties of the ingredients of mixtures such as creating solutions by dissolving salt in water or adding lemon juice to water.
In fourth grade, students are introduced to comparing and contrasting a broader group of mixtures including solutions.
In fifth grade, students will investigate mixtures and solutions through the properties of ingredients and determining how matter is classified, changed, and used.
